Strategy
START-UP

 

Advised a start-up manufacturing business in a monopoly market which, in 2 years, established its credentials with a 30% market share.  The addition of proprietary and patent protected products facilitated its sale 6 years later for more than 6 times earnings.

SALE OF AN ASX 50 SUBSIDIARY BUSINESS

 

Canrock Advisory was engaged by an ASX 50 company to prepare a loss making subsidiary businss for sale.  After a strategic review, a range of profit enhancement opportunities were identified.  With the early implementation of these opportunities, the business returned to profit earlier than expected.  The sale process continues.

QUARRY PROPERTY END-USE
MANAGEMENT

 

Dr Anthony Sive, the pricipal of Canrock Advisory, established Boral’s Quarry End-Use business, an innovative management solution to determine the highest and best use for Boral’s exhausted quarry assets.

 

Dr Sive led the rezoning, within 9 months, and the estate redevelopment to residential and industrial land of Boral’s 330ha hard rock quarry in Sydney’s western suburbs. He also led the residential land development of Boral's 160ha clay quarry in Sydney’s south western suburbs. Further, Dr Sive was responsible for the development of Australia’s largest putrescible landfill at Deer Park in Melbourne. 

 

The Quarry End-Use business continues to make a significant annual EBIT contribution to Boral.

Business acquisition and sale
GROWTH STRATEGY

 

Dr Anthony Sive undertook a strategic review of a profitable steel distribution division.  This review identified potential growth in both product range and geography.  Sales increased from $42m annually to over $70m in 5 years.

PROPERTY PORTFOLIO

 

Dr Anthony Sive, the principal of Canrock Advisory, developed a $160m industrial property portfolio across Australia for a leading national distributor. The portfolio comprised over 110,000 square metres of industrial warehouse on over 40ha of land .

ONGOING PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT FOR AN OVERSEAS INVESTMENT SYNDICATE

 

Canrock Advisory maintains an ongoing brief to provide property investment opportunities in defined categories for a European based property syndicate.  Properties with long term leases to Blue Chip tenants have been identified and acquired on behalf of the syndicate with very carefully set investment criteria.

INTEGRATION

 

Canrock Advisory has consulted to a number of organisations on their data management requirements. The strategic review of a large private company’s legacy computer infrastructure, resulted in the development of a hub and spoke integrated data architecture. Further, Canrock Advisory devised a mix of proprietary and commercial software that was centrally controlled.  A future upgrade to cloud computing was anticipated.

PROCUREMENT STRATEGY

 

Canrock Advisory, in consultation with the management of a leading New Zealand listed company, devised a procurement strategy to substantially improve its profitability. This work identified opportunities to both leverage a better deal from suppliers as well as enhance in-house processes and facilities.
